howdy!

I’m Samantha! I created Yellow Pearls for my graduate thesis project at NYU in the Integrated Digital Media program in an effort to guide a transformative process of reaching within and channeling energy for the self and the collective.

This has become my time capsule for the past year, which like for many, includes a tangle of crisis: From the The COVID-19 pandemic, to the racial injustice uprisings sparked by the murder of George Floyd, anti-Asian hate violence, and the passing of loved ones.

These events have all made this project dearer to me. As I’ve been learning, I have been reflecting and integrating. I don’t create this as an expert, but as someone who is going through this with you.

I am a Brooklyn-based multimedia producer with ancestors from Gwangju, Korea and central Texas. I bring my experiences in documentary film, audio engineering, social impact producing, and mental health advocacy to the projects I work on. I graduated from NYU with a Master’s in Integrated Digital Media, where I focused on media advocacy and multimedia storytelling. From co-founding feminist media company, FemBeat, to co-producing Asian media projects, I’m driven by work that is meaningful and informed by needs in my community.
